I'm 7 lbs lighter...

7 lbs 12 oz. lighter give or take a couple other pounds. Jacob Asher was born at 3:32 in the morning on Monday the 15th. He has quite a bit of brown hair and the prettiest dark blue eyes. He's 20 3/4" of laid back sweet boy. Everyone is completely in love with him, especially his older brother who checks on him every 2 seconds and doesn't want to leave the house now.
I hear some squeaks so I'm off to go snuggle and ooh and ahh some more.
Have a fantastic Wednesday!

El Gut update

I'm not sure if it's a been there done that attitude or the fact that I'm over half way through baking this little buddy and I'm not prepared for #6 mentally but either way I'm not posting as much about my pregnancy this time as I did with Kennedy. I get comments, emails, and my family keeps harassing me to post a nice juicy belly shot and update and I'm nothing if not a show off so I thought today is as good a day as any. Plus I actually got dressed today. So here's the skinny... or I guess fatty on my bulging middle and little buddy.

That shirt is deceiving. My belly is so low I want to sing "does your gut hang low, does it wobble to and fro" every time I walk. I feel huge but I've been told I don't look it. When you can't see your feet or stand up without assistance it's hard to believe. I'm 23 weeks this week so about 6 months (I think). I feel, well pregnant so I guess that's a good thing since I am. There are two things I hear every month I go to the doctor and I'll share them because those of you that haven't had children yet need to be prepared for what you'll hear later on- "Wow that's a yellow purse" and "With your weight gain... try to slow it down". If I were a gambling woman I would place a bet that I'll hear that next time to. That's the extent of my Dr. visits.

I have enough diapers already to change an army of babies and I'm slowly adding to the clothing pile but I have to tell you, I really thought I was having a girl so I'm still adjusting to needing boy stuff. I gave Jeremy's stuff away a few x chromosomes ago so I need to get cracking! He has a name but I don't want to start a family fued so I'm not going to post it until it's legally his. We haven't decided on a middle name yet though.

I think that about wraps it up and the next update will probably be to show you my chubby little guy! Of course you'll have to wait until November for that ;).

Extra fireworks will be fired

Today was the big day, I had my 20 week ultrasound this morning! I’ve been so worried that something was going to be wrong. Not that I have a big reason to feel that way but I’ve been so blessed to have 5 healthy kids I was nervous that something could come up this time. I feel that way every single time though. Everything looks great, so that’s a big relief. Baby is growing as it should and is just the cutest little 11 ounce thing.

We were lucky enough to get 2 short little digital clips along with the pictures so it was fun to bring the disk home and let the kids watch their new sibling kick around and wave at them. I was going to add a picture of my pregnant self today but nah… don’t feel like it. How about I tell the gender instead?

.

I’m nice like that. I figure it’s the least I can do. Isn’t finding out you’re pregnant and then waiting to see what it will look like surprise enough?

.

I say so! No one will convince me other wise. Ever. I give better gifts to people who tell. Not really but I should start doing that ;).

.

So, it’s a….

00stache

Mustache Onesie!!!! Yep, Jeremy’s pleading has been heard and he will get the brother we keep forgetting to order for him. I don’t want to jinx myself and say it too many times or bits might just fall off in the next 20 weeks.

Now to scrounge up baby boy ideas. I typed that so it doesn’t count towards the jinxing. I feel in the mood to light blue fire works now.

Have a happy and safe 4th weekend!

Secrets revealed

You guys are awesome, I loved reading your guesses on my secret project. I got a bunch of great ideas without even trying and I wish I was half as amazing as some of you think.

More than a few of you were spot on. Some of you were close. In the near future I am going to work on a new pattern, a bunch of skirts, a new dress or 5, a tutorial is in the works, pants… yep, a few quilts (maybe even one for me), and a ton of baby stuff for November.

Somewhere around November 19th give or take.

00baby6

Baby #6 is on the way. I am so excited and can’t wait for this little one to join our family! Don’t ask me about it in person though, I’m a little touchy about the “Don’t you know what causes that?” and “Are they all yours?” and “You’re going to have your hands full!” comments so I might just take you down. We were completely expecting to be expecting so we are thrilled.

So on to secret #2. The prize. So what did you enter to win? This-

00prize

A little something I made to draw attention away from my root beer belly. I’m not sure that was such a good idea because I think it draws attention to my growing double chin so I’m passing it on. Who am I passing it on to?

00winner!

Using my random comment generator, also know as my trusty rusty colander and Mary’s cute little hand, the winner is JWB! Congrats and I’ll send it over after I get it wrapped up and cutified.

00winner!!

Have a fantastic weekend!

School Pictures Stink.

No surprise here but I got our school pictures back and heaven help me. My mom came this weekend and saw them and gave me that look. I know what she’s thinking. She’s hoping I give her wallets so she doesn’t have to display them ;).

Jeremy actually takes pretty normal pictures as far as his body goes but his expression is not my favorite. He likes the “drunk, dazed, and confused smiling chicken” expression. I think you have to have a chicken to know the look. They cock their heads kind of sideways and give you a blank stare. If chickens could smile they would look like this-

00jimchicken

When anyone but myself takes Ashlyn’s picture she gets really shy and ducks, losing her neck completely. She looks like one of the Barbies we had growing up that no one played with because her neck was broken so we crammed her head on the neck stem anyway. Every school picture reminds me of neck less Malibu Barbie. Her skin is pretty tricky since she’s so porcelain toned and it almost always comes out green on film. Don’t even get me started on her expression. What is this?

00Ashynoneck

Lifetouch says “looks you’ll love”- uh huh. Every year. So, because these are staying hidden in the kid’s baby books for all time and eternity I decided to take it upon myself to capture my criminal’s mug shots as I see them. I had to grab each kid at a different time of day so the coloring is a bit different for each of them. I’m no photographer (obviously) and I don’t claim to be but I think these are just a tiny bit better than Chicken Jim and Malibu Ash.

So mom, you’re welcome. I’m such a nice daughter I won’t make you hang the blue ones on your wall until you’re 90 ;). I took a picture of all of the kids so I could send updated photos to everyone.

I’m off to stop procrastinating and *start* sewing the costumes I need to make. I’m so glad I’m only making 2!

Who's hungry?

I'm a terrible mother. I'm such a terrible mother, I starve my children. Kennedy is wasting away to practically nothing. The poor sweet child is on the brink of malnutrition. She's so ravenously hungry and desperate for any sort of morsel she can dig up, look at what she's resorted to...

Licking cotton. She's so starving she's even taken to chomping down taffeta with flocking. Poor girl. Cry for her will you?

She's so cute but so, so strange! She has this addiction to licking all things fabric with the occasional face thrown in. She just bends over, all innocent like, and acts as though she's going to cuddle with you then wham- you get licked when you least expect it. My pajama pants got attacked 3 separate times today and I got my cheek licked yesterday. It's not a cute little baby lick either, she drools like a faucet is attached to her face so you get thoroughly drenched. I don't get it, maybe I should invest in a salt lick for babies? Ashlyn was under the impression that Kennedy just wanted to sit next to her and look cute but Kennedy caught a glimpse of the crunchy skirt and had to have a taste. Weird little thing!

I finished her quilt and I love it so so so much! My first quilt that I'll actually admit to making. It's kind of a cheater quilt but it works for me. I don't follow patterns well, what can I say- I'm a rebel, so somehow my 40"x 40" quilt came out 44" x 44" but I like it bigger so I'm still awesome ;o). Best kit ever and I wish I would have bought more. I'm afraid to let Kennedy touch it now, she'll just eat the loose threads!

Short Round- month 4

Here's an update for the family with crafty stuff below. Kennedy turned 4 months old today. She's getting so big and I'm not just saying that. She's 16 lbs and 26" and is wearing 6-12 months clothing already, such a chub! You would think I would have fabulously toned arms from hefting her around all day but alas- still flabby. She's starting to play with her toys but refuses to roll over. She just likes to lay there all day having things handed to her. My kind of girl ;o).

Speaking of really cute girls I finished 3 doll head purses, for lack of a cuter name, earlier last week. They are lined and have a pocket inside with contrasting fabric. Sorry the pictures are so dark and un-photo shopped, I'm tired and just too darn lazy to pose my finished gifts right now. I don't know how Santa's Elves do it, well I guess they don't pose the toys and blog them either. Doll head purses- check!

Next up- Fabric houses.

3 months.

Kennedy turned 3 months old today! My little short round is getting so big, her hair is even "bigger".
I thought it would be fun to share 3 facts about Miss Mae that she'll deny later:

1. She is the cutest drama princess. When things are just right she's the happiest baby but when they aren't- watch out!

2. She loves to rub things with her hands, especially arm pits and chest hair. I personally don't know about the chest hair thing but I'll take Cody's word for it. That's something I hope she grows out of before she starts dating. Actually if she could keep that quirk maybe we won't have to worry about her ;o).

3. She has 3 tiny birth marks. One on her eye lid (hence the red left eye), one in the middle of her forehead, and one on her back.

I'm not going to jinx myself so I'm NOT going to tell you that for the past 2 days she's been taking her naps. I'm also not going to tell you she sleeps through the night for the most part. I just love my little chubby fussy or not!

I thought I should add I do not (for real) own a 3 row BMW. I drive a 3 row Big Mommy Wagon that got fixed today, hooray! Sorry for any confusion I may have caused ;o).

Miss Mae turns 2 months

Stats: 12 lbs 14 oz and 22 1/2" long. That's how long Jeremy was when he was born. She's in the 97th% for weight and the 50th% for height. I've dubbed her short round like the roast but she doesn't look that chubby to me really.

She loves, loves, loves to talk like her mother :). Before I know it those sweet gargles and coos will be replaced with "no" and screaming. I wish I could bottle her up and keep her this size. I kind of got cheated out of the tiny baby stage by having a half grown from birth. I got a great dane and I ordered a standard breed. My best advice for anyone expecting- lay off the ding dongs and nutty bars, unless of course they are absolutely necessary!

I really loathe this picture of myself but I keep waiting to post a picture of Kennedy and I until I lose about 40 lbs. Since that's not happening anytime soon here we are in all my tired face glory. Doesn't she look so preppy!

Blessing Day

Blessing day is one of my very most favorite baby events. Short of the moments right after birth, there is nothing sweeter than seeing my tiny baby all dressed in white. Such a reminder of who we are and where we came from.

I wasn't able to hear any of her blessing do to a faulty microphone, Kennedy fussing, and a very selfish family right next to me who decided they wanted to "hear" Kennedy's blessing instead of taking their 2 muffled screaming kids out into the hall. I know, I'm bitter and I should let it go but gosh darn it- take your kids out if they are screaming for a blessing please!

Most of my family made it including a Great Great Grandma so it was really fun. The perk to living in our home town is that half of Cody's family already live here so we don't have to worry if they are coming, but I'm glad they were there to. We kept it really low key and just fed lunch to the family's that had to travel back home. It was such a hoot to see my mom, my aunt (hi Tina), my grandma, and my great grandma stand in the kitchen helping me cook. Tina, I need that picture to scrapbook! I had 2 wiskers, a potato dicer, a side dish maker, and a "I think that plant might need more water" -er. Good Times!

As soon as Kennedy takes a nap I'm going to sew sew sew. I've got my etsy shop all set up but there's nothing in it yet so I need to get busy!

Kennedy is el uno

Well one month anyway, last Friday. I can't believe it's been over a month with this sweet little butter ball. Within this past month she's grown at least a pound in the mid-section alone. I stopped nursing last week completely and she's become such a happy baby. I can't believe how much happier she is. I'm so much happier too so it's a good thing.

She wakes up only once at night- thank you baby!!! I'm sure it's due to having a full tummy all the time but it sure is nice. One of my favorite things is that she started smiling on demand. There's nothing cuter than a bitty baby who's smiling already. Oh, I need at least a dozen more of these... babies. Don't tell Cody, I think he might protest so I'll have to work on him over the next few years. I'm sure he'll go along with it eventually or I'll have to have 10-tuplets. Yes 10-tuplets is a word in my world, stinking spell checker. Anyway I just love her to bits and pieces and she's the cutest!

My brief hiatus

I'm back to blogging and I'm feeling so much better. I haven't been able to log into my blog since I came home on Thursday so everything witty and great I was going to post about is gone now. I don't have the energy to remember. All I can think about now is my mountain of laundry and getting some sleep, lots and lots of sleep. Now that it's day 6 I feel great. I'm smaller than I was a week ago and having a nursing baby sure makes you sit down a lot so I'm getting plenty of time to relax.
I thought about posting my birth story but I love babies and my birth experience this time would cause most women to go out and get a hysterectomy right now so I'm really doing everyone a favor, I want the human race to continue ;o). Kennedy is just the cutest and sweetest baby ever. She has quite a bit of brown hair, blue eyes, her dad's nose, her mom's dimply chin, and the physique of a butterball turkey. She reminds me of Mary with Kaci's eyes and Ashlyn's hair color. She's just her own little person really though. She's my biggest baby so far and tied for the shortest, part of the reason my birth story isn't sharable.
I don't have any great pictures of her because the weather this week hasn't been the best picture weather but here she is- as is- the day we came home from the hospital and one shot from today.
Kennedy Mae Baxter

I caught a cold while I was in the hospital so between that, just having a baby, and school starting today I'm wiped out so forgive me if my posts are a little sparse. Have a great Monday!

Tomorrow, Tomorrow, I'll love ya- Tomorrow

She's only a day away!!!!

By this time tomorrow I should be completely freaked out by the fact that I'm going to be the mom of 5 and well past the point of no return, what was I thinking ;o). Actually right now I'm totally freaking out and sweating and nauseated and I'm sure I'm forgetting everything except what it feels like- AHHHH!

I'm still in one piece and it hasn't hit me that I'll have my bread dough figure back and a new baby tomorrow. Wish me luck (that and a heaven sent anaesthesiologist with an epidural) and hopefully I'll have really cute pictures to share Thursday evening.

Updates all around

I'm so glad the wordless week is over! I thought it would be a nice break but I still ended up cheating a little because who wants to stay wordless? I have so many words to say now that it would take a week just to catch up so I'll spare everyone and just give an update post today.

Booties- Thank you so much for all your compliments and congratulations on my booties and the contest! I LOVE Craftzine and I LOVE Michael Miller fabrics (I hoard a ton of it!) so I'm just completely over the moon! I won some pretty fantastic prizes and I'll be stalking my front door for the next few weeks. Who would have guessed that my middle of the night idea for booties for Kennedy would turn into this- awesome!

As far as what I'm going to do with the booties, I plan on opening an etsy store within the next week and cranking out as many of these babies as I can in as many different fabrics as I can and listing them a.s.a.p. Unfortunately I most likely won't be doing a pattern for this particular style because I really have no idea how I would tell you (or show you) how to make them. I just wing it and manipulate them as I go along, and pray that both booties match so I have a pair. Each pair will be a one of kind sort of thing. I've sketched out at least 15 other designs and I will probably offer a free tutorial on one of those in the near future, a pattern I can explain better probably. I love to share, especially when I can give it to you for free. If you have any questions please email me at dontlickthefloor(at)hotmail(dot)com.

Mini Me- Yesterday marked my 36th week! That's a huge milestone for me just because I know it's almost over. I'm just not the type who loves being pregnant. I just adore babies and need a million of them but I tell you, if I could go pick them up at the store instead I would.

Look at how big I am! My arms look like what the hulk's arms will look like when he turns 90 and has a farmer tan. Stop looking at my arms, I know it's hard to look away- like a wreck or something. **Edited to add** Objects in mirror are less flattering than they appear. I know my lower arm looks like it's in risque` position, but I swear I'm only holding up the bottom of my belly. Hope that makes some of you feel better ;o).

Our Family- We are doing great and we are super busy this summer with Jeremy and Ashlyn in soccer, Mary's birthday next weekend, the baby coming in the next few weeks, doctors and dentist appointments, and churchy things. Cody is going to be working out of town all of next week and possibly two weeks so I'll be a single-mom and probably committed to some sort of facility before too long. With Cody gone and not making me go to bed before 11 that will give me tons of time at night to sew and get ready for baby. I still haven't washed a single baby item or found my baby clothes yet. I should probably do that.

I think that about covers it for now. Have a great weekend!!

There are no calories in ice cream.

I had a Dr.'s appointment Monday and everything as far as baby goes looks fantastic. Just what every expectant mom wants to hear. Everything for me looks okay except my weight. I gained 10 more pounds. 10 stinking pounds in 4 weeks. Again. By my calculations, unless this baby weighs 22 1/2 pounds right now some of that's me. I wonder if eating this Saturday had anything to do with it?

No, I don't think eating an ice cream cone bigger than your head would cause weight gain. I think it must be the heat and swelling ;o). Believe it or not that's a medium, I didn't even order a large which I think would have been physically impossible to snarf down- even by me. I had a hard time holding it it was that heavy, even for my puffy swollen hands.

In better less heavy news I'm working on my quilt top for wee one. I got the top sewn together but I need to applique the flowers and stuff on. I'm having a hard time getting the flowers just right but I am getting it done. It's only been staring at me for the last 2 months so it's about time. I plan on getting more booties cut out and sewn sometime this week too. I've been in the sewing kick lately, can you tell?

Itty Bitty

This is my secret project I've been working on and I posted it today so I can share it! They're a pair of baby booties for the Michael Miller baby bootie contest. There's a flickr group here with all the entries, cross your fingers for me. They're giving away a new sewing machine and since my is smothered with epoxy I could use a new one.

For some reason I can't bring myself to buy anything for the new baby. Maybe it's because I have almost everything I need already having had 3 summer girls. Maybe I'm still in denial that she really is a girl, I don't know what it is but almost everything I've bought so far I've returned for one reason or another. I have a huge cupboard brimming with tiny diapers- it looks like I'm geared up for Armageddon, but as far as tiny clothes and accessories go I'm having a hard time.

You can't return what you make though and I'm so happy with the way these booties turned out. I actually sketched them first about a month and a half ago and they came out exactly as I wanted them to. My head and hands were a team here, normally my hands ignore my head and kind of get the idea but not really. I might have to send my hands to some sort of team work seminar or something because this happens frequently- they aren't team players and I might have to let them go. I sketched a few other booties and I was thinking of making some and starting up an etsy store but I'm not sure there's a huge market for booties. I'm such a chicken, and a serial returner with commitment issues.
