Drum roll please....

But first lets talk about the comments. Let me just say that I laughed, then cried (because of the laughing), then laughed some more. I'm not laughing at you, oh no, I'm laughing with you because I've either been there and done that or I have some really good ideas now. Some of you are just brilliant. One I haven't tried but seriously thought about Saturday- putting Mr. Bubbles in the pool at the end of the day- sheer genius!

Thank you so much for playing along and for enabling the lazy mom that lives here.

Bonus round, can anyone fix this? My baby looks like Íñigo Montoya. It's a real problem for me. As much as I love the Princess Bride and Íñigo it's not a flattering look for a little girl. If she could say the lines to the movie I might consider keeping it that way but as hard as I try I can't seem to get her to say "My name is Íñigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die" she just keeps saying "Mom, I need pencos and colors. Pleeaaaseee".

Alright, I've dragged it out as long as I can handle it. The winners are, after I weeded out the duplicates and then did the random number thingy. I'm looking really skinny and blond these days, don't I look fantastic ;o)-

I can see why that post is your favorite. I totally loved it. I've perfected the art of putting off, neglecting and shushing my chidren. Except, I have nothing to show for it. Crap. I love the scrapbooking stash, and I hope I win. I'll even give you another example of what a terrible mom I am if I get two entries. j/k.

I'm not sure how I stumbled onto your blog, but I check it out every once in a while. My kids had cake for breakfast-I mean, is there really much difference between that and a donut? (I like the fabric.)

Drop me an e-mail at dontlickthefloor (at) hotmail (dot) com with your info and I'll send those out. Thanks again to everyone that made me feel so un-alone.

Truth or Dare?

This post- this one right here- marks my 200th blog post! I've written 200 separate blurbs about the life of the not so rich and not so famous Bridget Baxter family. Reflecting back on my old moldy posts I've talked about everything from mommy stuff, craft land, my reproductive status, life in the sticks, and nose beads to mention a few. My personal favorite post is and probably always will be this little ditty right here mostly because that's pretty much how I talk all the time. I find in the bloggy world I'm just way too self conscious to post reality or talk about how I really feel because of the possibility of someone actually reading it, and I can't be the only one who feels that way.
So for today in honor of my 200th post I'm going to share a little mom truth with you, but just a little because I don't want the DHS people to come and snatch my kids all at once ;o). I get asked a lot how I manage to craft and sew and still get the mom stuff done with 4 little criminals running around. Truth be told- I don't. Whenever you see a project on my blog completed it's because I've successfully ignored, pacified, put off, (what-ever works at the time) my kids, the house, and my personal hygiene. I clean so I can craft and craft until we need clean underwear or spoons and then repeat.

I once found a dust bunny so large it could fill up a tea cup- sad but true. So there you have it. I'm really only together one day a week where I look decent, my kids look decent, and the house is relatively clean all at the same time. Please don't come to my house this week. No really.
If you would like to share a not too risque mom truth with me, non-perfectness loves company (or is that misery?), I'll share the products of my recent craft room clean up as a reward. Just leave me a comment mentioning a tidbit of "real mom" and whether you would prefer the scrapbook stash or the fat quarter stash. When I have more than 2 comments or the next time I post I'll pick 2 random winners. You can be anonymous if you like just check back here to see if you won. The fabric bundle looks a little sparse so I'll most likely add some to it between now and then.

Random Scrapbook supplies

Fat quarters, ribbons, and whatever else I scrounge up within the next few days.

Good luck and thanks in advance for making me feel better!

Who are you today?

It's been one of those days today. Not terrible, not good... just a day with a bit of emphasis on the cranky side of things. I kind of woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I was looking for an Oscar the Grouch picture for my post today and came across this amazing waste of time, a "Which Sesame Street Character are you" test, and since I'm having a blah day and I'm being anti-social right now I have time to waste so I took it. Here are my results-

Guy Smiley
You scored 60% Organization, 55% abstract, and 34% extroverted!
Here is why are you Guy Smiley.
You are both mostly organized. You have a good idea where you put things and you probably keep your place reasonably clean. You aren't totally obsessed with neatness though. Guy Smiley is your average Joe. He'll dress up and look nice for his game show, but he's not a neat freak. You are both a concrete and abstract thinker. Guy Smiley uses his imagination to come up with ridiculous game shows. However he's concrete enough to stick by his rules and perform his role as host. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren't afraid to explore your dreams and desires... within limits of course. You are both introverted. At first glance Guy Smiley may appear to be an extrovert given he hosts a popular show. But in reality he struggles to relate with other people. His prizes tend to just be Guy Smiley merchandise. For whatever reason you are a bit uncomfortable in social settings. You may have one or two people that you are close with. You'd rather do things by yourself and you dislike working in groups where things are always so inefficient.

Do they not know I didn't want to be Guy Smiley today? Oddly enough I think it describes me very very well, not the smiley or guy part but the rest of it. I did clean up my craft area this weekend. Don't those fat quarters look so happy right there where I can keep an eye on them?Okay, enough with dumb quizzes but some days you just have to do something really mind numbing so you don't have to think about anything else for a minute.

There are no calories in ice cream.

I had a Dr.'s appointment Monday and everything as far as baby goes looks fantastic. Just what every expectant mom wants to hear. Everything for me looks okay except my weight. I gained 10 more pounds. 10 stinking pounds in 4 weeks. Again. By my calculations, unless this baby weighs 22 1/2 pounds right now some of that's me. I wonder if eating this Saturday had anything to do with it?

No, I don't think eating an ice cream cone bigger than your head would cause weight gain. I think it must be the heat and swelling ;o). Believe it or not that's a medium, I didn't even order a large which I think would have been physically impossible to snarf down- even by me. I had a hard time holding it it was that heavy, even for my puffy swollen hands.

In better less heavy news I'm working on my quilt top for wee one. I got the top sewn together but I need to applique the flowers and stuff on. I'm having a hard time getting the flowers just right but I am getting it done. It's only been staring at me for the last 2 months so it's about time. I plan on getting more booties cut out and sewn sometime this week too. I've been in the sewing kick lately, can you tell?

Master of His Domain

Cody is a stud. I bow to him in his great power and wisdom. I worship the dirt he treads upon.

I had nothing to do with the title or first line. This is what I get for asking Cody to type a title for me while I changed a diaper. Oh well, it's his day and I'll let him think that for now. I do love the guy- he's the best dad and husband ever. You've gotta love the safety glasses and the "pearly whites" as he calls his legs. I think he's the hottest ticket in town. The kids think he's the best and tell me that every day. In the words of Jeremy this morning "I'm so happy you're my pappy. You make me laughy." Happy Father's Day love bucket.

Happy Father's Day to you too dad. He's the funniest smart alec ice cream lover around and I have about 75% of his genes. Including my shoe size and love for double named ice cream. Hope you have a great day dad!

~Love, your favorite daughter~

Fluffy fun

I finished my couch pillows this week and they were so fun. It's been a epoxied sewing machine/fabric frenzy this week. So crazy I've been seeing numbers on everything. They even made their way onto my pillows. I didn't pick random numbers, they do mean something so it's not that crazy, well maybe it is but I like them okay- okay. I still need to make a few more but I want to mix it up and use some different fabric and use different sizes next time.
As soon as my decorations finish growing I'll post pictures of my window redo I was working on to.
I've got so many irons in the fire right now my posts might be few and far between but hopefully the ones I do post will be sooo crafty and awesome you'll forgive me.

I'm almost to my 200th post to so look for some random something giveaway in the next week or so.

Have a happy Flag day and Father's day!

Captains Log- 6/10/08

Where the heck am I? I could have sworn we moved from the North Pole. Maybe my dreams are coming true and h*ll has frozen over. Quick- I wish for a bazillion dollars and world peace. And a box of ding dongs- I'm out.

Itty Bitty

This is my secret project I've been working on and I posted it today so I can share it! They're a pair of baby booties for the Michael Miller baby bootie contest. There's a flickr group here with all the entries, cross your fingers for me. They're giving away a new sewing machine and since my is smothered with epoxy I could use a new one.

For some reason I can't bring myself to buy anything for the new baby. Maybe it's because I have almost everything I need already having had 3 summer girls. Maybe I'm still in denial that she really is a girl, I don't know what it is but almost everything I've bought so far I've returned for one reason or another. I have a huge cupboard brimming with tiny diapers- it looks like I'm geared up for Armageddon, but as far as tiny clothes and accessories go I'm having a hard time.

You can't return what you make though and I'm so happy with the way these booties turned out. I actually sketched them first about a month and a half ago and they came out exactly as I wanted them to. My head and hands were a team here, normally my hands ignore my head and kind of get the idea but not really. I might have to send my hands to some sort of team work seminar or something because this happens frequently- they aren't team players and I might have to let them go. I sketched a few other booties and I was thinking of making some and starting up an etsy store but I'm not sure there's a huge market for booties. I'm such a chicken, and a serial returner with commitment issues.

My kids are famous- again.

The big buzz around our house this weekend was Stock show. Stock show is a yearly thing here where the 4-H and FFA kids sell their market animals and there's a rodeo, horse races, a teeny tiny carnival, and a parade. It's been around since the dawn of time and every year our church has a float in the parade. This year Cody's parents were on it with a few of the grand kids and Jeremy and Ashlyn. It was miserably wet and cold so you couldn't see much with all the umbrellas but it did make the paper- we're so special- again.

I think the paper should have printed this (don't tell Jeremy and Ashlyn) horse dressed as Elvis. See the mutton chops and bell bottom leasure suit- classic.

I managed to paint my 3 ft. barn star white and got it hung up before the parade. It started out completely rusted so I sanded the edges and the more it rains here the more the rust shows through the white. I hope it gets really old rusty white or I'll have to take it down and beat it up some more. The front of our house that's towards the street is so blah, the pretty part is the back so I thought it needed something. It really needs a real front but the star will have to do for now.

I'm off to make some throw pillows for my living room today. I found the epoxy and "fixed" my sewing machine. It looks so great but it works. Wish me luck!

A bit tacky

I finished one project today- hooray! I made a recycled tack board picture frame. I was inspired by a frame from and old Pottery Barn catalog I've had laying around. I bought an ugly mirror for $6, painted it, and cut a sheet of cork and glued it to the middle. My sewing machine is broken so I just cut a piece of canvas that used to be a pillow cover and used fusible web to hem the edges. The cork is really thin, maybe an 1/8", so normal tacks or push pins are too long and would hit the mirror I couldn't rip out. To solve this problem I used the capped prong part of clothing button snaps as the tacks and it works perfectly. Everything is made from stuff I had and never used except the mirror. Feels good to finally use some of that stuff!

Before-

After-
I want it to be a tray to display some booties I made for a contest and when I'm done using it for that I'll hang it on the wall somewhere with something cute tacked on it. Probably smallish baby things when the baby gets here.

More projects to come when I finish painting and "hillbilly" fix my sewing machine until the part gets here.

Not a mirage...

Every time I look in my backyard I still think this thing is not here. It can't be. I'm still asleep right?

Cody got a tiny black lab puppy named Cooper last thursday. The kids are ecstatic but not as much as Cody is. I'm well.... let's just say he's not mine. He is cute for now. That's as involved as I get. Maybe I'm still tired from my trip and I really am just imagining.

What a weekend!

First I have to start with a great big Happy Birthday to Ashy! She turned 6 yesterday. I can't believe how big she's getting. She was my tiniest baby at 7 lbs 9 oz and the wiggliest thing alive. She was born to run or something because that girl was rolling by 6 wks and walking at 9 months. She also became my chubbiest baby so far- look at those cheeks!

She's the most helpful, dramatic, shy girl with dinner and cake all over her face and we just love her to bits.

I came home from my trip yesterday at 4:30 and wanted to die on the couch but had to get Ashy's party started so no rest for the wicked. It was such a last minute trip I forgot my pajamas and a ton of personal items and finally got to moms after 10 p.m Friday night. We shopped for 12 hrs. on Saturday until I couldn't feel my knee caps anymore. We went to bed around 2 in the morning every night. I'm beat but I had so much fun!

Here's a short recap of my fly by weekend:
1. Barn stars and lots and lots of bargains.
2. Dinner at Sonic's - I loved it!
3. Target, Old Navy, Kohl's, Craft Warehouse, Macy's clearance center, Ross, Bath and Body
Works, Michael's, a random pet store, and another store or two I'm forgetting but it's a blur at this point.
4. Steve and Barry's- Everything under $10 in the entire store and it reminds me of an Old Navy/Maurices, so awesome.
5. Real radio stations, more than 2 and a speed limit above 65 (even if the roads are terrible).
6. Dad's Belgium waffles.
7. Visiting with my sister and her family.
8. Visiting with my Grandma & Grandpa and Aunt.
9. Swollen cankles for 2 days.
10. No kids!!!! Well not mine anyway ;o).

I have lots of projects to make and share so off I go to be crafty and take lots of naps. Have a great Monday!
