It's Halloween week and the reason I say week is this year we have 3 days worth of Halloween. Wednesday is our church Halloween carnival thing for the kids, Thursday is the school parade and Halloween party, and Friday is Halloween. Halloween is one of those love/hate holidays for me. I love making costumes and seeing the kids dressed up, I love carving pumpkins, and I love all the candy- that's the true reason I have 5 children. No one would appreciate it if I dressed up and knocked door to door asking for candy but when a cute little bambi eyed kid or 5 comes a knockin' they load them up! I'm making extra cute costumes this year because I'm desperate for chocolate. You can judge me if you must but I know I'm not the only one who dips in their kids Halloween candy ;o).
The hate side of Halloween is from the fact that I hate being scared, I don't like blood and guts costumes, it's always freezing cold here, I have to work my rear end off for 2 weeks at least to outfit all my children for one evening, and I will not watch scary movies or even scary commercials and they are always on t.v. for the entire month of October. I once had to sleep with my lights on for 2 weeks thanks to the 6th Sense. Drama my behind- that movie was scary! I was living at home still and yelled for my mom (yes I was 18) to come turn the lights off in my room once I was in bed so I wouldn't have to make the long sprint/jump to my bed with the lights off. After Cody and I watched I am legend I had to put a lamp by my bed and couldn't go in my basement alone for a long time. I know- I need therapy.
Long tangent made short, we have a busy week ahead this week and I'm sick! I caught some nasty bug and I can't smell, breathe, hear, talk, eat, sleep, the list goes on and on. Not only do I have it but so does Mary, Kaci, and the baby. So this year I'm the Hallo-weeny. I just want it to be over and I don't even care about the chocolate because I can't taste it anyway- did that just slip past my lips? Blasphemy! So here I sit typing away because I have 5 unfinished costumes to sew and absolutely no desire to do it or attend any functions where I have to get out of bed. I want to sit here all week and have someone come finish the costumes for me while I drown in a pile of tylenol cold & flu and lotion kleenex. Any takers?
