Sorry it’s been a while since my last post. Jake and I are trying to work out a couple issues and my days are over before I even start them. Newborns kind of put a damper on craft stuff. Not that I’m complaining, there’s no where I need to be or want to be more right now that parked in a rocking chair every waking second with this handsome little man…
And his cheater quilt I made to bring him home in. I love that it looks like a 100% handmade patchwork baby quilt- but it’s not. I bought the patchwork fabric already patched by the yard. Ingenious stuff. Thank you Grandma’s Attic!
I added a bit of cotton batting and threw on some awesome grey Swiss dot fabric for backing. I even quilted it a little. I freehanded swirls in each corner of the patchwork to keep the sandwich together. See, I quilted sort of.
I have a couple other quilts and projects ready to make for the little tyke but for right now it’s boxed dinners and cheater quilts.
I was going to look like super mom and wow the masses with all my tutorials, features, and scheduled posts I saved and stockpiled to share with you while I was occupied with mini me but the pre-baby computer crash put the kybosh to my master plan. Here’s the revised post computer death plan. If I put off my hygiene and bathroom breaks for another day I might be able to crank out a stocking stuffer idea or two to share soon. Just keeping it real folks, because I have to now ;).

He is soo cute! Love the quilt too! Isn't it funny that being a new parent is all about faking it. The baby doesn't know any better. Nothing that snuggling won't solve!

ReplyDeleteThere is nothing more real then a baby. It reminds you of just how real your life is. Thanks for updating us. He is adorable, and so is the quilt. Please put off your personal hygiene for more tutorials. Just kidding. My baby is 14 months and sometimes I have to skip the shower if I want to get something done. Isn't it sad what we have to sacrifice.

ReplyDeleteI have been catching up having found your blog relatively recently & wonder how you got on with the nursing pillow. I'm curious as I too am small busted with a long torso and had a sore back & shoulders for months when my two were wee.

Oh My! I LOVE the fake-it quilt!! What's the fabric called or who is it by? I looked at grandma's attic but can't find it. I am trying to make a bumper set for my son's crib. This is the exact color combo and fabric I have had in mind. Thanks for the post.

Hi Denise, the fabric was called Grandma's attic from fabric.com and when I bought it they had 3 different colorways. It was a clearance fabric and it sold out the day after I bought it so I'm not sure where else you can get it. If I find any I'll be sure to let you know, I know I want more!
