Who's hungry?

I'm a terrible mother. I'm such a terrible mother, I starve my children. Kennedy is wasting away to practically nothing. The poor sweet child is on the brink of malnutrition. She's so ravenously hungry and desperate for any sort of morsel she can dig up, look at what she's resorted to...

Licking cotton. She's so starving she's even taken to chomping down taffeta with flocking. Poor girl. Cry for her will you?

She's so cute but so, so strange! She has this addiction to licking all things fabric with the occasional face thrown in. She just bends over, all innocent like, and acts as though she's going to cuddle with you then wham- you get licked when you least expect it. My pajama pants got attacked 3 separate times today and I got my cheek licked yesterday. It's not a cute little baby lick either, she drools like a faucet is attached to her face so you get thoroughly drenched. I don't get it, maybe I should invest in a salt lick for babies? Ashlyn was under the impression that Kennedy just wanted to sit next to her and look cute but Kennedy caught a glimpse of the crunchy skirt and had to have a taste. Weird little thing!

I finished her quilt and I love it so so so much! My first quilt that I'll actually admit to making. It's kind of a cheater quilt but it works for me. I don't follow patterns well, what can I say- I'm a rebel, so somehow my 40"x 40" quilt came out 44" x 44" but I like it bigger so I'm still awesome ;o). Best kit ever and I wish I would have bought more. I'm afraid to let Kennedy touch it now, she'll just eat the loose threads!

  1. Okay, that is so NOT a cheater quilt!!! It has a top, a middle and a bottom. Sandwiched. It has been pieced and sewn on top. You. Are. A. Quilter and I'm expecting big and important things from you now. I'll have to get you some of my greatest hits, in a quilting sense. Don't you love that it's all done now?? I love it!!! And it will just get yummier and yummier the more you wash it.

flocking on the tongue......i might need to try that.

  2. Kennedy is SO stinking adorable. I love those chubby legs. My youngest is 2 and I am longing for another baby already. Darn you for showing cute baby pics!!! J/K.

I love the quilt! Did you quilt it yourself. I so badly want to make a quilt, but am so not a quilter. You make this sound as if even I could do it. I'll have to check out Quilt Taffy to see the kit...

  5. Carter is into licking again lately too. . .but he's 3 years old. Are there 3 year molars? I don't think so. Anyway. . that quilt is too AWESOME! I wouldn't call it a cheater quilt at all! I think I'm going to cut out a whole mess of 5x5 or 6x6 squares & let the boys design their own quilts. That would be fun. . .yeah, that's what I'm going to do. . .now I'd better get to bed. 5:15 comes WAY too early.

  8. My youngest is now two. When he was really little by husband and I taught the teenage Sunday School class. He would attack the table in the front of the room and start licking the table legs. Of course the teenagers thought it was soooo funny! Then he would go and try to untie the boys shoes and suck on them! What about that sounds appealing? YUCK! We were excited to send him off to nursery at 18 months.

I love your quilt! I don't think it's a cheater quilt at all!

  10. At that age they are sure sneaky little buggers arent' they? I have a 6 month old that lures you in thinking your getting the loves and BAM! Getting attacked by the little guy. I obviously have followed your lead and starve my child.

Come by my blog today, you won an award (check out the first post for today).

  11. Feed the poor child. She's boney as a turkey carcass after Thanksgiving. Give her some cordoroy.
Met you over at B's adoration society! Nice to meet you. You girls with young'ns have me in awe. Those times are a distant sweet memory for me.

  12. Adorable child and quilt. Maybe you should feed her so she won't have to resort to taking things into her own hands.... or mouth. You know what I mean.
BTW I changed my blog address. This comment should take you there.

  13. TaaaDaaa! I made my cupcake and even posted it! (I decided I'd better not wait for the cherry-on-top and perfect lighting, or I might never get it posted.) Thanks again for the inspiration and the great tutorial!

I have another cut out, so I'm going to play with it some more! I'm thinking of making one into a little cradle purse like those crocheted ones from the 70's that were on a plastic base and every little girl at church had one that grandma had made her...um, everyone but me ;D (Thus, the unfulfilled need.)
